2020 LMC Speed Championship postponed

Announcement: 19/6/2020 by Sean Robertson, LMC Championship Coordinator

18 of the 24 rounds of the LMC Speed Championship have now been cancelled due to Covid-19. As a result, it simply isn’t viable to continue the Championship this year. We feel we have no option but to postpone the entire Championship until 2021 when we hope events will resume.

I am contacting all registered contenders to advise that it is my intention to carry forward your registration to the 2021 Championship, but if that is not convenient to you please let me know and I will arrange for your entry fee to be refunded.

If you are content to carry forward your registration to next year you do not need to do anything. Once the 2021 Regulations are confirmed in the new year, I will be in touch to ensure your contact details, car details and class entry are still correct.

At the present time, the following events remain scheduled, so hopefully, despite not being part of a Championship, we may yet see some wheels turning this year.

09-Aug Curborough Sprint Mid Cheshire MC
30-Aug Harewood Hillclimb BARC Yorks
05-Sep Aintree Sprint Liverpool
06-Sep Three Sisters Sprint Longton
03-Oct Anglesey Sprint Longton
04-Oct Anglesey Sprint Longton

Once again, my sincere apologies for having to relay more bad news to add to the long list of disappointments this year has brought to all of us.

Stay safe and well and I hope to see you soon.

Sean Robertson, 19/6/2020

UPDATE: 29/7/2020:

The following events have also been cancelled

9 Aug – Curborough Sprint – Mid-Cheshire
6 Sep – Three Sisters Sprint – Longton
3 Oct – Anglesey Sprint – Longton
4 Oct – Anglesey Sprint – Longton

Covid-19 and the LMC Speed Championship

Unfortunately, nearly two-thirds of the events that were rounds of the 2020 LMC Speed Championship have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Some have been lost during the blanket cessation of motorsport up to 30th June, others have been cancelled due to venues no longer being available or due to organisers deciding that they are unable to run the events whilst keeping safe all those involved.

See the Championship Calendar page for details of the events affected.

As a result, we are reviewing the prospect of running the Championship with a drastically reduced number of rounds and will make a further announcement before motorsport recommences on 4th July.

In the meantime, stay safe everyone.

Ron’s out of action for a while!

Please be aware that Championship coordinator Ron Hunt is currently recuperating at home after a minor operation that invoved a short stay in hospital last week.

You can still let him know about any omissions or errors that you find, but please be aware that he won’t be able to action any corrections or update the Championship results table for a couple of weeks.

I’m sure competitors will join me in wishing Ron a speedy recovery.

No MGCC Sprints at Anglesey in Sept 2016

MGCC has announced that it has been unable to secure Anglesey Circuit for the Sprint Weekend that normally takes place at the beginning of September each year, so the event will not take place in 2016.

As a result, it is likely that the Aintree Sprint on 3rd September will attract extra competitors, so we recommend that you get your booking in for Aintree early in the year to avoid disappointment – once entries open of course!
