Congratulations go to our winners:-

Division 1:
1st – Nigel fox
2nd – Matt Bramall
3rd – Geoff Ward

Division 2:
1st – Ian Johnson
2nd – Phil Howarth
3rd – Graham Kearsley

It’s certainly been a closely fought championship this year and we are so pleased to see so many competitors out and about after the cancellation of last year’s championship due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Thank you to everyone who took part.

Awards
After a great deal of deliberation, we have reluctantly decided not to hold an annual dinner and awards presentation this time. Covid-19 hasn’t gone away and the advancing age of many of our competitors, coupled with the increasing rate of infections, has been taken into account and we don’t feel it is appropriate to hold a dinner whilst the risk of infection is still so high. We shall arrange to send trophies to the winners in due course. We hope you appreciate why we have reached this decision.

Next Year
We’re already planning for next year – we hope you’ll be joining us for another exciting year of speed events in 2022.

Championship Coordinator – volunteer found!
We wish to give particular thanks to Sean Robertson who is now stepping down from the role of Championship Coordinator for personal reasons. He took on the role from Ron Hunt just as Covid-19 struck and has done a  wonderful job over the past 2 seasons, one year of which was lost of course.

We are pleased to welcome Ryan Smith who has volunteered to take on the role of Championship Coordinator for 2022. Ryan isn’t a competitor although he has taken part in our track days and is keen to help keep the Championship running. Ryan will be in touch with all previous contenders early in the New Year.

Best wishes, and stay safe

Events are filling up!

It appears that competitors can’t wait to get their entries in for this year’s sprints and hillclimbs!

In the first 3 weeks, Liverpool MC received over 150 entries for its Aintree and Barbon events.

Longton is reporting similar interest with over 50% of the capacity of its May Blyton weekend being booked in the first 24 hours.

So, if there’s an event in which you particularly want to take part, don’t be disappointed, get your entry in without delay!

2020 LMC Speed Championship

Announcement: 19/6/2020 by Sean Robertson, LMC Championship Coordinator

18 of the 24 rounds of the LMC Speed Championship have now been cancelled due to Covid-19. As a result, it simply isn’t viable to continue the Championship this year. We feel we have no option but to postpone the entire Championship until 2021 when we hope events will resume.

I am contacting all registered contenders to advise that it is my intention to carry forward your registration to the 2021 Championship, but if that is not convenient to you please let me know and I will arrange for your entry fee to be refunded.

If you are content to carry forward your registration to next year you do not need to do anything. Once the 2021 Regulations are confirmed in the new year, I will be in touch to ensure your contact details, car details and class entry are still correct.

At the present time, the following events remain scheduled, so hopefully, despite not being part of a Championship, we may yet see some wheels turning this year.

09-Aug Curborough Sprint Mid Cheshire MC
30-Aug Harewood Hillclimb BARC Yorks
05-Sep Aintree Sprint Liverpool
06-Sep Three Sisters Sprint Longton
03-Oct Anglesey Sprint Longton
04-Oct Anglesey Sprint Longton

Once again, my sincere apologies for having to relay more bad news to add to the long list of disappointments this year has brought to all of us.

Stay safe and well and I hope to see you soon.

Sean Robertson, 19/6/2020

UPDATE: 29/7/2020:

The following events have also been cancelled

9 Aug – Curborough Sprint – Mid-Cheshire
6 Sep – Three Sisters Sprint – Longton
3 Oct – Anglesey Sprint – Longton
4 Oct – Anglesey Sprint – Longton

Thank you for taking part in the Championship this year, and for your patience whilst we finalised the results. Details of an awards presentation event will be announced shortly.

I’m now retiring from running the Championship and want to thank everyone for their support over the past 15 years. Best wishes to all; I hope you continue to enjoy your motorsport.

Kind regards

Ron
Championship Co-ordinator

Apologies for the delay in publishing the 2019 final results and awards lists. Over the past couple of years, Ron has found that running the championship has become increasingly challenging but, not wishing to let everyone down, he has valiantly battled on. After 15 years at the helm, it is with great regret that Ron has now decided the time has come to pass on the role of Championship Coordinator to another volunteer.
Sean Robertson is your new Coordinator and his contact details will be published in the 2020 regulations.

It’s fair to say that without Ron, the Championship simply wouldn’t have become the success that it is today.
I’m sure you will join with me in thanking Ron for the incredible amount of work he put into setting up and running the Championship over the past 15 years and we wish him all the very best for the future.

John Harden,
Chairman, Liverpool Motor Club

Please let me know as soon as possible if there are any mistakes or if I have inadvertently missed you.

Please also check that if you qualify for the Classic Championship your results have been included.

It would help greatly if you declare to event organisers that you are registered in the Liverpool Motor Club Speed Championship as it makes it easier for me to find you. If the event is also an ANWCC or SD34 round,  don’t forget  to declare that you are a member of  LMC as well as any other club you are a member of because the club will then receive points in the ANWCC &/or SD34 Club Championships.
